4 Top Motorcycle Road Trips According To Our Motorcycle Insurance Customers

Motorcycle Trips

You’ve got your bike, a great motorcycle insurance policy through Edwards Insurance that gives your coverage AND peace of mind, and now it’s time to take your bike out on the open road. So where should you go? Everywhere! Our beautiful state has loads of scenic drives, along the coast by Myrtle Beach, through the big-sky coastal plain near Florence, and all the way to the mountains near the North Carolina border. There is just so much to see on a motorcycle in South Carolina.

We asked our motorcycle insurance clients which road trips are their favorites for a two-wheeled adventure through South Carolina, and here’s what they said:

  1. Ashley River Road Scenic Byway

Looking for a short weekend ride? Ashley River Road Scenic Byway covers 13 miles along Route 61 near Charleston. It travels through the Ashley River Historic District that’s lined with oak and hickory trees that arch over the road and create a Hallmark movie-like experience for motorcycle riders.

This route also travels through orchards, crosses Lake Keowee, and passes by Magnolia Plantation and Middleton Place Plantation. You and your motorcycle buddies or passengers can enjoy a lot of South Carolina history and scenery in just about an hour, so it’s a short drive that packs a big punch.

  1. Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway

Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway is a favorite for our motorcycle insurance clients because it’s 117 miles of stunning views and South Carolina history.

On this route, you’ll cross Lake Keowee, pass by Cowpens National Battlefield and through the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. Long ago, this route was used by Cherokee fur traders. Take a lunch break and stretch your legs at Keowee-Toxaway State Park, which has excellent hiking trails and campsites if you’d like to make your motorcycle tour of South Carolina into a two-day adventure.

  1. Cesars Head

A motorcycle trip to Cesar’s Head State Park offers great views and plenty of fun stops along the way. Start your trip in Cleveland on Hwy. 276, then turn on Hwy. 11 and follow it all the way to Ceasars Head State Park, where you can either continue on to the summit of the mountain or stop and enjoy all the amenities the state park has to offer – or both!

  1. Historic Beaufort

Beaufort is one of South Carolina’s oldest and most beautiful cities, and it’s a top spot for motorcycle riders looking for a great ride with plenty of food and fun. Enjoy a wealth of southern-food favorites on Beaufort’s historic streets, then head on down to Hunting Island State Park. You’ll get to enjoy the gorgeous views of the barrier islands on the way, cross the Harbor River, and then you can take a few hours to stretch your legs on one of the state park’s many scenic nature trails.
